The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) 2023-2024 Research Report is now available online. The publication highlights how OSC is advancing the use of high performance computing (HPC) in the state of Ohio and beyond with new and expanded resources and services.
This year’s report features OSC’s many initiatives that support the growing demand for research and innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), including the launch of new HPC clusters equipped with the latest hardware to manage AI workloads. OSC also is leading programs, funded by the National Science Foundation, to train more HPC professionals in AI technologies.
“Supporting the growth of AI use and inquiry across academic disciplines and industry has become a key focus of OSC’s efforts,” said David Hudak, OSC executive director.
In addition, the Research Report spotlights enhancements to OSC’s Open OnDemand portal, used by hundreds of organizations around the world, as well as OSC’s expansion of its youth STEM education and outreach programs.
Research conducted at OSC covers a wide range of academic disciplines, from astrophysics to digital arts. Commercial clients also employ the Center’s HPC power for projects such as product design and drug development. The Research Report’s featured case studies demonstrate OSC’s broad impact on research and commercial innovation. Examples include:
