Ohio Supercomputer Center
A downtime for all HPC systems is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018. The downtime will affect the Oakley, Ruby and Owens Clusters, web portals, and HPC file servers. Login services, including my.osc.edu, and access to storage will not be available during this time.
In preparation for the downtime, the batch scheduler will begin holding jobs that cannot be completed before 7 a.m., July 17, 2018. Jobs that are not started will be held until after the downtime and then started once the system is returned to production status.
Highlights of the downtime activities include:
- Account consolidation. See this page for more info: https://www.osc.edu/supercomputing/knowledge-base/account_consolidation_guide
- Regular systems maintenance
- Torque submit filter improvement to manage Python environment
- Ethernet network hardware upgrades
- BLAST database and software separation
Currently, BLAST module loads the BLAST software as well as the BLAST database by
module load blast
During the downtime, we will separate the software and database, since it updates independently.
Therefore, you need to load the modules separately after the downtime, for example,
module load blast
module load blast-database/2017-03
If you like to use a newer database, you can use
blast-database/2017-10
.
(
blast-database/2017-03
is the same database that the BLAST module loads previously.)
