Faculty wishing to incorporate this discipline into their coursework are invited to attend the workshop, “Integrating Computational Science into the Undergraduate Curriculum,” June 17 to 23, 2007, at the Ohio Supercomputer Center, Columbus, Ohio.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) is helping deploy new technologies to Ohio’s K-12 schools with the 4th annual Megaconference Jr.  This global Internet event is designed to give students and teachers in primary and secondary schools around the world the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and contribute to each others’ learning in real time, using advanced multi-point video conferencing technology.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (OSU) are designing a groundbreaking virtual surgical training program using software and hardware developed at OSC. The study, officially called “Simulation Technology in Veterinary Education: Research and Surgical Training,” began in January 2007 and will last for about eight months.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) is hosting a workshop, Python Programming for High Performance Computing, on February 20 - 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in its BALE theater. The workshop is geared toward those wanting to learn about Python but have never used it before. Attendees should have some programming experience.

OSC would like to announce that the name of the Third Frontier Network is being changed to OSCnet. This name is the result of a series of meetings with legislators, academic partners, and state leadership.  Virtually all of those participating in the discussions noted that it was time to clearly associate the network with OSC so as to minimize confusion for OSCnet users and those who provide funding for the network, including the higher education partners that were central to the inception and implementation of the network.

Students and researchers using the Ohio Supercomputer Center’s (OSC) BALE Cluster can now enjoy faster rendering for visualizations and improved system stability. OSC's Ralph Regula School of Computational Science (RRSCS) will also be able to use the updated BALE training environment for a variety of computational science education activities. RRSCS is a statewide, virtual school focused on computational science.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) announced today the upgrade of its high performance computing (HPC) capacity with the acquisition of the IBM Cluster 1350.   This new system is projected to be one of the top 50 supercomputers in the world, making OSC among the top 10 academic supercomputing centers.

State Senators Steve Stivers (R-Columbus) and David Goodman (R-New Albany) today announced the release of more than $4.4 million from the state Controlling Board for the expansion of the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), located at the Ohio State University.

Jack Dongarra, internationally-known expert in high performance computing (HPC), recently spoke at a lecture series sponsored by the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) on Jan. 11, 2007. In his speech, “Supercomputers & Clusters & Grids, Oh My!” Dongarra addressed current trends, rapid changes, and some of the biggest challenges facing the HPC world.
