Press Releases

At the 47th Annual State Science Day on April 22, 1995, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), Columbus, recognized Upper Arlington ninth grader Ho-Sheng Hsiao for Outstanding Application of Computational Methods for his State Science Day Research Project. Hsiao's project, Path finding: Behavior of Artificial Neural Network, garnered the top OSC award.

In mid-February, OSC Networking and MCI Telecommunications completed the installation and testing of OSC Networking's expanded gateway service to the Internet. The new service establishes connections between OSC Networking and internetMCI Direct Connect Access. As a result of this new service, OSC Networking, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, now maintains a total of 10.5Mbps total gateway throughput to the Internet through three different diverse paths.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) announces that five science video animations produced at the center were among the 34 selected for the International Supercomputing '94 Conference showcase video, SuperViz '94, as excellent examples of scientific research.

The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) announces that five science video animations produced at the center were among the 34 selected for the International Supercomputing '94 Conference showcase video, SuperViz '94, as excellent examples of scientific research. With the assistance of OSC staff Tim Rozmajzl, Leslie Southern, and Rob Berry, two of the projects were created by high school students who participated in OSC's 1994 Summer Institute program.

-Dr. Martha Krebs on the National Role of Energy Research

Dr. Martha Krebs, the first woman ever appointed to lead the U.S. Office of Energy Research (OER), will give the keynote address at the conference: Combustion, Environment, and Heating Technology--The Role of High Performance Simulation. This conference, hosted by the Ohio Supercomputer Center, is on October 6-7, 1994, at the Fawcett Center For Tomorrow on the campus of The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.

As a part of The Ohio State University Summer Institute at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) from July 11-22, fifteen Ohio high school students and two high school teachers worked with Ohio's high performance computers -- supercomputers normally reserved for professional scientists and engineers.
