What is DISC?

Storing your high performance computing (HPC) research data is now easier than ever! Whether you want the Ohio Supercomputer Center to automatically import your data:

  • One to One - Individual OSC user’s data can be imported, stored and accessed from their OSC home directory

  • Many-to-1 - An entire project team’s data can be imported, stored and accessed from their OSC project directory

  • Many-to-Many - An entire project team’s data or data from multiple machines with common users (i.e., Research Instrument Lab Groups) can be imported, stored and accessed from their OSC project directory

Why should I use DISC?

  • Supports multiple operating systems - Whether you are using Linux, Mac, or Windows, DISC is a cloud based service that works across multiple operating systems. This means you can access your data from anywhere on any type of computer system.

  • Easier collaboration - DISC allows for easier data sharing with your colleagues in both academia and industry.

  • Compatible with common data management standards- DISC works with several methods of data management standards including various encryption methods.

  • Supports large data sets and high volume files - Your research requires supercomputing systems to process your research, DISC allows you to store your largest data sets and high volume files and results to your home directory on OSC's mass storage system.

  • Allows you to use HPC for remote analytics - Access your data and run remote analytics from anywhere on any computer with an internet connection.

Who is already using DISC?

Currently both The Ohio State University Campus Microscopy and Imaging Facility (CMIF) and The Ohio State University Plant Microbe Genomics Facility (PMGF) are using DISC for their HPC data storage and collaboration.
